Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 October 2026

Vocabulary Inbox (“we”, “us”) is a web app and browser extension that helps language learners save, learn and remember new words. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and your rights.

Who we are

Vocabulary Inbox is operated by Export-Net, 64 boulevard Heurteloup, 37000 Tours, France. For any privacy question or deletion request, contact: etienne.bognar@export-net.com.

What we collect

  • Account information: your email address, used to create your account and save your progress.
  • Your vocabulary: the words and phrases you choose to save, their translations and explanations, the sentence they appeared in, and the address (URL) of the page where you found them.
  • Voice and photo input: when you dictate with the microphone or capture text with the camera, the recording or photo is sent to an AI service to turn it into text. The text is what we work with; the recording or photo itself is not kept on our servers afterwards, unless you explicitly choose to save a photo reference with your word.
  • Your lists and practice activity: your word lists, exercise results and review progress, plus the look-up history you see in the app.
  • Stories you create: the scripts and settings for audio stories you generate from your vocabulary.
  • Basic technical data: needed to run the service securely, such as browser type and error logs.

What we do NOT collect

  • We do not track your browsing history.
  • The browser extension only acts when you ask it to — looking up or saving the text you have selected. It does not read pages in the background.
  • We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

How we use your data

  • To provide the service: translating, saving and organising your words, creating exercises, generating stories and audio from your vocabulary.
  • To improve and secure the service, including detecting abuse of free-use limits.

We do not send you marketing emails.

Service providers and AI

To translate words, transcribe voice, read photos, generate exercises, stories and pronunciation audio, the text, recordings and images you submit are processed by third-party AI service providers on our behalf (reached through the Lovable platform). These providers may only use your data to provide their service to us. Lovable states that app data is not used to train its AI models.

Our email provider sends account emails such as sign-up confirmation and password reset.

Where your data is stored

The app is hosted by Lovable, and your account data is stored in a database in the European Union (Ireland). Some AI providers may process your requests from outside the European Union; where that happens, contractual safeguards apply to protect your data.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete individual words, stories and other items at any time in the app. To delete your whole account and its data, contact us at the email above; we process the deletion promptly, and residual copies may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period before being removed.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can access, correct, export or delete your data, and object to its processing. To do so, contact us at the email above. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).

Children

Vocabulary Inbox is not intended for children under 16.
